The University entered the top ten on the level of teaching in the seven subject areas in the recently released ranking of universities in the Complete University Guide 2017:

  • Social policy (3rd place);
  • American studies (6th place);
  • Forensics (6th place);
  • Hospitality, leisure, recreation and tourism (7 th place);
  • Social work (9th place)
  • Architecture (10th place).


In addition, the University of Kent has entered the top twenty universities in 14 subject areas:

  • Fine arts and design (12);
  • Marketing (12 th);
  • Psychology (12th place);
  • The science of sports (13th);
  • Anthropology (14th place);
  • History of art (14th place);
  • Creative writing (14th place);
  • Dramaturgy, choreography and cinema (16th place);
  • Italian (17th place);
  • Sociology (18-e a place);
  • Right (19);
  • Linguistics (19th place);
  • Theology and religious studies (19th place) and
  • Economy (20 th place).


In the overall ranking University of Kent retains a leading position — it is located on the 23-th line of the list, comprising 127 institutions.

The University of Kent also ranks high in other rankings:

  • 16-e a place in rating Guardian University Guide 2016 (the editorial Board of the Guardian newspaper),
  • 23-e a place in the list of the Times and Sunday Times University Guide 2016 (the editorial office of the newspaper the Times)
  • 12-th place in the rating based on the results of voting students Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2016.


The prestigious ranking of world universities from the magazine Times Higher Education (THE) for 2015-2016, have placed the University of Kent within 10% of the most internationally-oriented universities and 66th place in the list of best universities in the world in terms of international cooperation. The placed the University 20th in the list of top British universities, compiled by results of the analysis of the three main national University rankings.

The University of Kent also took 17th place in the activity of research activities according to the system of certification of quality of scientific research in the UK "Research Excellence Framework" in 2014. The University conducts world-leading research in all subjects and 97% of scientific papers received from the REF rating of "international quality".
