Reception of documents for "Bolashak" scholarship 2017: what has changed?

The government of the Republic of Kazakhstan approved by the deadline and the changes regarding the programme of international scholarship "Bolashak", the resolution entered into force on 23 may 2017.

Under the new rules, reception of documents started on the 29th of may and will be held on September 15, 2017 only in electronic form. Competition for the award of the scholarship will be held from 5 June to 20 December 2017.

Significantly changed the selection rules for all categories of students, for example, GPA of bachelor diploma or specialist from 3.0 to 3.3. Also increased the requirements for English proficiency for obtaining scholarships. IELTS for all applicants to the graduate program increased from 5.0 to 5.5. For those students who have GPA 3.3 or above, and IELTS with a score of at least 6.5, introduced the category of "General competition".

Changes were made and the order of competitive selection, from 2017 it will consist of six stages.

Stage 1 - selection of motivational and recommendatory letters
Stage 2 - determining the level of foreign language knowledge
Stage 3 - determining the level of knowledge of state language
Stage 4 - comprehensive testing of applicants and psychological diagnostics
5 - stage interview with members of the Independent Expert Committee
Step 6 - review documents and the results of the Republican Commission on training abroad

According to the decree, in the list approved by the program universities included the top 70 in the world indices, as well as the top 20 world universities in the field according to the recognized international rating agencies, such as, for example, Times Higher Education.

Moreover, it has changed and part of the required work practice upon completion of training was introduced the mechanism of differential testing according to the scheme "centre-region", with the alternative of working off 3 year instead of 5 years in large cities such as Astana or Almaty.
