Cardiff University has received 150 million pounds in grants from research funds in the UK and Europe to conduct research. This is a record amount in the history of the University. Despite the reduction of research budgets caused by the global financial crisis, getting a University such significant funds demonstrates its success in organizing the research work. It covers all major areas, including health, physics, social Sciences, technology, art and Humanities. A significant portion of the funds will be used for interdisciplinary research, supporting collaborative projects, which involve staff from different scientific schools.
