VU University Amsterdam is one of 14 research universities in the Netherlands that offer an academic education and Master’s degree programmes. The faculties offer 50 bachelor's, almost 160 master's, and a number of PhD programmes. The language of instruction for most bachelor's courses is Dutch. As of fall 2016, the university offers seven bachelor's programmes fully in English. About 80 master's programmes at VU are offered entirely in English.
