Entry requirements

Bachelor programmes:

  • High school diploma
  • IELTS: 6.5 or TOEFL paper- ·based test: 580 or TOEFL internet-based test: 92
  • International students may be required to complete International Foundation Programme in order to meet entry requirements for a Bachelors degree at the University.

International Foundation Year:

  • Good high school graduation grades or equivalent academic study.
  • IELTS 5.0, overall score, minimum 5.0 in writing, no other sub scores below 4.5. 

Master's programmes

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited research university
  • IELTS Academic: 6.5 or TOEFL paper-based test: 580 or TOEFL Internet-based test: 92

How to apply

Applications to Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam are done completely online. You start the application procedure through the national application system. You will then receive an e-mail inviting you to complete your application in the VU student portal, where you will be asked to submit all documentation needed for the admission procedure.
