Ecole Normale Supérieure

Entry requirements

The School presents three ways of admission. First, alongside French students, foreigners can take the same exam. Applicants must have a native knowledge of French and the exam follows two years of intensive preparation in “Classe Préparatoire” in French Lycées (high schools). Second, the School will select foreign students by way of written applications and interviews. Third, the School will select 25 international students and offer them a grant of 1000 Euros a month to cover their costs of living as well as free accommodation.

Location

The ENS is situated in the heart of Paris in the vibrant Quartier Latin surrounded by other top universities, including the Sorbonne. The River Seine as well as parks and cultural locations are at a short walk’s distance. The School is well served by the Metro (inner city underground) and RER (the rapid transit system), which connects Paris to its Southern suburbs, where two of its campuses are located.
