University of Turin

Student life

The biggest attraction is the city itself with its cultural offerings, thanks to a wide range of museums, sites, monuments, churches, parks, theatres and events which take place all year round. More than two thousand years of history have contributed to build up this incredible heritage: from the Roman Empire, through the Middle Ages, the Savoy court, becoming the first capital of Italy in 1861 over the Risorgimento, to being the capital of Italian industrial production over the 20th century with FIAT.

Facilities including library and computing

There are more than 70 university libraries comprising about two millions books: 100.000 are antique volumes. The Botanic Garden and several University Museums such as "Cesare Lombroso" - Criminal Anthropology Museum and "Luigi Rolando" - Human Anatomy Museum are well known.

The University takes a close interest in the network of local museums, on subjects ranging from Egypt to contemporary Art and it runs its own media, radio, television and film production units.

Career services

The University's Job Placement Service has been established in order to help its students and new graduated (who held their university degree within 18 months) to enter the labor market. The service operates on two levels: through the Job Placement offices in the individual Schools and Departments and through the central Job Placement office at the Students' Rights office.

As a whole, the Job Placement Service serves an intermediary function, at once helping students in their careers choices and in making preliminary contact with companies and helping companies, public bodies and international institutions to find and choose students and recent graduates. The Schools and Departments Job Placement Offices display employment and internship opportunities on websites (university or other) and notice boards and through presentations given by interested companies.

Location

Situated in the North West of the country, on the banks of the Po River and surrounded by the Alps, Turin is the administrative centre of the Piedmont Region and the third biggest city in Italy. The urban area is bordered by what has always been historically known as the "Corona delle Delizie", the crown or ring of delights, formed by the Royal Residences dotted around the outside of the city.
