Overview

Founded in 1839, University of Missouri (Mizzou, MU) was the first public university to be established west of the Mississippi. Through its 18 colleges and schools, Mizzou – as it is known – offers more than 300 degree programmes, including 89 online courses.

MU claims to be one of just six public universities in the US that houses a medical school, veterinary medicine college, engineering, agriculture and law schools all on one campus. The university also owns the University of Missouri Health Care system, which operates four hospitals in Mid-Missouri.With the acceptance rate of about 78% the university is relatively easy to get in.

Students work side by side with some of the world's best faculty to advance the arts and humanities, the sciences, and the professions. Scholarship and teaching are daily driven by a sense of public service - the obligation to produce and disseminate knowledge that will improve the quality of life in the state, the nation and the world.

The University of Missouri has highly ranked graduate programs at the College of Education and Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business, as well as a School of Medicine and a Tier 1 School of Law. This public research university offers opportunities for students to team up on faculty-led projects as early as their first year.

Mizzou has a living alumni network of over 300,000 people worldwide. It boasts a number of famous actors as graduates including Brad Pitt, George C. Scott and Chris Cooper. Also Samuel M. Walton - founder of Walmart has graduated MU.
