Student life

The learning centres offer integrated free internet and email access, library, computing and media support services. Wireless internet access is available on all campuses. Oxstalls campus offers up-to-date sports facilities and technologies. Park campus includes a medical centre, launderette, and 24 acres of landscaped grounds and gardens. Francis Close Hall campus hosts 21st-century state-of-the-art laboratories, ICT and design studios. The Centre for Art and Photography is a creative hub for art and design students. All campuses have student helpzones, a student service to help with any advice, support and assistance to students.


With almost 50 societies to choose from, meet people with shared interests, or try something new. Get involved in anything you like including snow club, ukulele, the Bee Project, film, comedy, creative writing, paintballing, Afro-Caribbean and Dumbledore's Army. You can even start up your own. Join our student radio station Tone. From rugby to rowing, there's a sport for you. A big part of many of our students' lives is playing sports. Whether you're new to what we offer, or a sporting superstar, UNIversal Sport offers everyone the opportunity to get active. You will enjoy a huge range of sporting, recreational, exercise and fitness activities - with no commitment and lots of fun. If you're passionate about competing, you could join one of our nationally successful teams.

Accommodation

Whether you want to live in halls of residence, in private housing or in lodgings, the accommodation team provides a wide range of student accommodation to suit your needs.

  • The majority of first year students live in halls. House hunting support available for any who wish to live out.
  • Cost of halls is £69–£102 per week, inclusive. The average cost of private accommodation is £65 per week, non-inclusive.
  • 80% of university rooms are en-suite, with internet access.

Career services

  • There are a good variety of jobs available to those who need them.
  • Many large businesses employ students from the university. Kraft foods, Endsleigh are local student employers.
  • The Student Union Job Shop helps students find work, including at the famous Cheltenham Gold Cup festival.
