The most famous son of Bonn is Ludwig van Beethoven but our city gained true global recognition when after 1949 Bonn became the home to the West German parliament and government.

The International Club is a meeting place for international and German students. The international club has been an institution at Bonn University for more than thirty years now. It offers students a varied program during each semester with country evenings, excursions, movie nights and much, much more. The international club is also the home for the international choir, which always meets mondays at 8p.m.

Under the heading of university sports you can choose from about 100 different types of sports. The University of Bonn maintains in excess of 30 sports venues. The University has 5,515,343 media in approximately 100 libraries. Bonn's many museums and exhibitions have contributed to the city's attractiveness as a centre of culture and science. The university can claim a major role here, too, since it has a number of important museums that serve as centres of academic training and research and open their treasures to the public.
