St. Louis University

Student life

SLU's campus ministers provide individualized attention to student’s needs, respect their challenges and bring a thoughtful appreciation for everyone’s experiences and beliefs.

The university’s campus offers a variety of facilities for students, including Fitness Centers and Recreation Facilities, housing, dining options, clubs, fraternities and sororities and many others.

In addition to religious extracurriculars, students can also choose from over 240 student organizations that cover a variety of interests: student government, club sports, organizations focused on media and publications, performing arts, religion and volunteerism and service.

There is a recreational center on campus where students can take free Zumba or yoga. The gym is free for students. It is very reliable and 24 hours. Depending on the weather, SLU has a swimming pool and a volleyball court with sand.

Besides, Saint Louis is a lively town filled with amazing things to do such as attending live music venues, eating out, going to the fox theatre, or just walking around exploring the city.

The Campus Ministry organizes specialized retreats and mission trips throughout the year and the on-campus church holds a daily Mass. The Saint Louis Prayerbook is an online database of prayers – some traditional others original and submitted by students or faculty members.

Accommodation

Freshmen and sophomores must live on campus, unless they commute from a parent's home, are married or have been in the military for at least two years, among other exemptions. In total, about 90 percent of freshmen live on campus – all in halls exclusively for first-year students. Saint Louis has both dormitory and apartment space on-campus.
