Marquette University


The Marquette University is a private Catholic university located in Wisconsin, in the central United States, in walking distance of downtown Milwaukee - a city known for its restaurants, zoo and athletics. Marquette is one of the largest Jesuit universities in the United States, and the largest private university in Wisconsin.

Founded in 1881, the university offers a comprehensive range of majors in 11 nationally and internationally recognized colleges and schools:

A Marquette education offers students a virtually unlimited number of paths and destinations and prepares them for the world by asking them to think critically about it.  With an acceptance rate of about 67%, Marquette is slightly challenging to get in.

Notable alumni include Patrick Eugene Haggerty, the cofounder of Texas Instruments, The New York Times columnist Gail Collins, and a comedian Chris Farley, who starred on "Saturday Night Live" and in "Tommy Boy".

Marquette University's ranking in the 2017 edition of The Best Colleges is the 86th among National Universities. Forbes America's Top Colleges 2016 ranking places the university the 157th. Washington Monthly National Universities Rankings 2016 ranks it the 127th.

Academic specialism

The most popular majors by the number of registered students are biomedical sciences, registered nursing/registered nurse, psychology, finance, marketing, accounting, and communications.

Marquette's largest college by enrollment is the Helen Way Klingler College of Arts and Sciences.

For 2015, U.S. News & World Report ranked several of the college's graduate degree programs. Biological sciences at Marquette was ranked as the 188th overall and the chemistry program was the 148th. Graduate clinical psychology was ranked the 102nd, psychology was the 158th, English was the 98th and history was the 110th.

U.S. News put Marquette's graduate international business program at the 22nd overall in 2013 and the executive MBA program ranked the 15th. For 2016, the part-time MBA program was ranked the 102nd.

The school's graduate biomedical engineering program was ranked the 52nd in 2016 by U.S. News & World Report.

The physical therapy program was ranked the 15th in the nation in 2016 by U.S. News & World Report, and the physician assistant program was ranked the 40th. The speech-language pathology program was ranked the 69th in the nation in 2016 as well.
