Brigham Young University

Student life

The main campus in Provo, Utah, United States sits on approximately 560 acres nestled at the base of the Wasatch Mountains and includes 295 buildings. The buildings feature a wide variety of architectural styles, each building being built in the style of its time. The grass, trees, and flower beds on BYU's campus are impeccably maintained. Furthermore, views of the Wasatch Mountains, (including Mount Timpanogos) can be seen from the campus.

Among campus buildings there is the Harold B. Lee Library, which has around 98 miles of shelving containing more than six million items. The BYU campus is also home to the 22,000-seat Marriott Center, one of the largest on-campus arenas in the United States. There are also several museums, housing complexes, cafeterias and convenience stores.

Student life at Brigham Young University is heavily influenced by the fact that a significant number of its students are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Brigham Young University's stated purpose is to "assist individuals in their quest for perfection and eternal life". It is common for prayers to be spoken in classes.

From simply hanging out with all the incredible people students meet out here to going to visit the national parks or beautiful ski resorts - there are a lot of options for recreation and having fun. This area has an especially large number of options for outdoor enthusiasts such as mountain biking and hiking, but also has some fun activity centers like the Seven Peaks Waterpark.

Accommodation

Students have many housing options on-campus. They include single students housing, apartments for married students, apartment-style halls, dormitory style living areas.

Usually residents share a room with one or some other resident, but do not have their own kitchen and use shared bathrooms. Residents are required to have a meal plan.
