During the course, students work within a wide range of academic disciplines, including: biochemistry, pharmacology, physiology, microbiology, genetics, nutrition, food science, psychology, social sciences, inter-professional practice, health promotion, marketing and the influence of the media; a key element is the integration of theory and practice, so each year features periods of academic study interspersed with practice-based education; around a 1/3 of the degree is based within the practice environment, and students gain relevant experience through a variety of placements based within the partnership NHS Trusts.
