The student is introduced to the exciting field of contemporary visual communication which encompasses a diverse range of activities and professional opportunities including: book illustration; magazines; multi-media/web design; animation; design consultancy; the programme offers a wide variety of artistic, technical and specialist skills through a practically based programme of: drawing; printmaking; painting; photography; video; the course aims to focus students’ attention toward the professional and personally driven areas of applied image making/illustration within the context of a rapidly developing multicultural and technology influenced society, in which the traditional notions of image production are being continually challenged by new and exciting alternatives; students are expected to make visits to exhibitions during the course; this is fundamental to the understanding of current art and design practice.
