This course is suitable for students who: are interested in the outdoors, adventure, travel and outdoor pursuits; want to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding to be able to travel and survive safely in the outdoor environment; want to learn more about adventure and eco-tourism and how they interact with the natural environment; wish to be able to use their knowledge and skills to educate others and to provide a more sustainable future for the environment; scientific understanding of the environment is enhanced by a holistic approach, which links traditional geographical subjects with philosophy and psychology through outdoor pursuits and activities to create both a better understanding of the interactions between physical and biotic environments and of the concept of a sustainable relationship between the human race and planet Earth.
