Heriot-Watt University, BSc (Hons), Textiles and Fashion Design Management
Year 1: Students develop awareness and creativity in fashion design, textile design [print, weave and knit] underpinned by skills in presentation and computer aided design; marketing and management introduce the concepts of customer focus and consumer demand. Year 2: In addition to retail management, promotion and advertising, the fashion, textile and management disciplines are advanced through projects which extend the student's creative, innovative and problem solving ideas, and develop the ability to present work professionally; a study visit reinforces the importance of market context. Year 3: Students have the opportunity to follow alternative fashion and textile design pathways, exploring both commercial and cutting edge design through styling, portfolio and marketing. Year 4: Alongside a strategic design management programme, students consolidate skills learnt in previous years to produce an original personal honours project, demonstrating insightful and specialist knowledge.
