Year 1: Introduces students to the main features, operating context and professions of the built environment sector; emphasis in on a theme of sustainable development; students study construction, economics, history, governance, law, information technology and undertake an interdisciplinary practical project; also includes a residential study tour. Year 2: Covers foundations in valuation theory and practice, urban economics, property investment and law (property, planning and civil); also includes construction technology, financial accounting, data analysis, and a professional practical project. Year 3: Further develops core knowledge and skills with advanced modules in valuation, property economics and investment, development appraisal and property law; these specialist studies combine advanced theory and contemporary practice with studies in taxation and management, and a professional project which offers a week's study tour abroad. Year 4: Students undertake a personal research dissertation, and core modules in valuation and market analysis; specialist options in local and international markets, sustainable development, housing policy, urban regeneration and facilities management; a design project provides practice of valuation and appraisal skills in a real-life development scenario.
