Early childhood Studies Level 1: Services for young children and families (compulsory, 20 credits); children’s development and learning (compulsory, 20 credits); anti discriminatory policy and practice for children and families (compulsory, 20 credits). Level 2: exploring research with children (compulsory, 20 credits); meeting the needs of all children (compulsory, 20 credits); curriculum issues in early childhood (optional, 20 credits); international perspectives (optional, 20 credits). Level 3: safeguarding children (compulsory, 20 credits); leadership and management in early years services (optional, 20 credits); Early childhood studies: individual study (1) (optional, 40 credits); Early childhood studies: individual study (2) (optional, 20 credits). Geography Level 1: Modules provide a broad grounding in the study of interrelationships involving societies and environments; the students takes: discovering geography; geography of a changing world; the student also choosed one module from the following: people, nature and place; the physical environment; the settlement of South East England; world regional geography. Level 2: the students chooses from regional and thematic options; either physical or human geography modules may be chosen, or a combination of both: geography and geographers (pre-requisite for fieldwork investigation); fieldwork investigation in geography; biogeography; geomorphology; environment and development; geography of North America; introduction to geographical information systems (GIS); understanding past climatic change; Western Europe: space and society. Level 3: Further choice is available so that the student can follow a pathway reflecting their interests: independent geographical study; independent geographical research; applied physical geography: climate and society; advanced geographical information systems (GIS); global economic systems; regions of risk: human and environmental security; space, place and politics; the countryside: conservation and recreation management; the North American city.
