Level 1: Students acquire essential skills through practical workshop experience and the development of research and design; introduction to a variety of textile design and surface pattern processes from initial research through to design awareness, development and realisation. Level 2: Students develop their design and making skills through exploration and production using computer-aided design for digital print on paper and fabric as well as jacquard; embellishment and fabric construction techniques; students have increasing responsibility for their own development and learning programme, and are taught a professional approach and awareness through business placements, participation in national and international design competitions; live projects and commercial commissions. Level 3: Students refine and develop their knowledge and skills through an individually-negotiated pathway; working towards a final degree show collection.
