How to apply

Undergraduate

Admission to a First Cycle or Single Cycle Degree Programme is subject to the possession of a valid foreign high school diploma, which has been legalised, translated and presented with a declaration of value. The translation is not necessary for Diplomas in English, French, German and Spanish. The Declaration of Value is not requested for International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. Students with a not legalised IB Diploma should authorize the University of Bologna to verify the results on the official site of The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).


Validation of your qualifications and pre-enrollment at the Embassy

Contact the Italian Embassy in your country, and submit:

  • your high school diploma;
  • (only if the education system in your country lasts 10 or 11 years) the certificate attesting the completion of academic studies or a post-secondary qualification issued by a non-university higher education institute;
  • (only if entrance exams are laid down for admission to university in your country) the certificate proving that you have passed any academic tests;
  • (only for students applying for a shortened programme) the documents required for the application for a shortened study programme. The Degree Programme Board is responsible for recognition, and consequently for admitting students to years after the first year;
  • (only for non-EU students resident abroad) the application for pre-enrollment.


Postgraduate

Admission to a Second Cycle Degree Programme is subject to the possession of a suitable foreign university or post-secondary qualification, which has been legalised, translated and presented with a declaration of value. The translation is not necessary for Qualifications in English, French, German and Spanish. The Declaration of Value may be replaced by the Diploma Supplement, for academic qualifications issued by institutes in the European Higher Education Area (Bologna Process).
