Oxford Tutorial College is a leading independent college specialising in A-Level and GCSE tuition for those intending to go on to higher education at a good British University. There is a well established sixth form for students taking A-Levels for the first time. The college also has many years successful experience of running retake courses.
Full-time A-level courses are offered over either one or two years. Those taking A-levels for the first time are able to choose without restriction from a wider range of subjects than is available in most sixth forms. Intensive A-level retake courses are also offered, lasting from one term to one year; the courses are individually tailored so that students only need retake those units in which they had previously under-performed. GCSE courses are also available, either for the first time, or as retakes.
The college also organises short intensive revision courses at Easter, both at A-level and GCSE, as well as supplementary teaching at other times throughout the year to support the work being done at school.
Teaching on all courses comprises a combination of small group seminars and individual tuition. The college aims to provide a supportive yet mature environment which will enable its students fully to realise their academic potential. Students learn not only how to gain the grades they need to get on their chosen course, but in the process they also acquire the skills, the good study habits and the self-reliance they will need to take full advantage of that place once their degree course begins.
The full range of subjects is available at AS and A2 level and for GCSE. The college offers all the traditional school subjects plus others less widely taught; courses of tuition in virtually all A-level subjects can be arranged (by individual tuition in the less popular subjects). The new A-level syllabuses also give the option of taking sixth form subjects at AS level, without necessarily completing the full A-level.
