Student life

Bored? Not when you attend AUM! Outside of the classroom, AUM is buzzing with events and activities. From beach outings to island-wide cultural expeditions, we are dedicated to ensure our students have plenty of opportunities to have fun. Our goal to not only a have positive classroom experience, but also have plenty of chances to develop long lasting friendships. These activities are included as part of your Student Activity Fee and they are a great way to get to know other students. Many of our activities are also designed to help you get to know more about the Maltese history and culture.

Student Clubs and Organizations

The Student Affairs Office facilitates student growth through a variety of organizations. It supports activities to complement courses such as academic, civic, social, cultural, religious, or recreational clubs for fun and leisure. Membership in these clubs not only helps students make new friends and meet people with common interests but it also helps them to acquire important skills such as leadership, organization, teamwork, and event planning. The university encourages all students to establish or join organizations to explore or further their interests.

The Student Affairst Office oversees the activities of the clubs and approves funding for events. To request funding from Student Affairs, please visit Room 206.

Accommodation

The best way to get the full university experience is by living in AUM housing, where meeting new friends means taking just a few steps down the hall. Research shows that students who live on campus are more satisfied with their collegiate experience, earn better grades and are more likely to graduate on time than students who commute to class.

Our apartments are CO-ED apartments (females and males share apartments but not individual rooms). Co-Educational bedrooms are only available in case of married couples.

Flatmate/Roommate requests are possible, but you must email the Student Affairs Office immediately upon receiving your visa and confirming your arrival at AUM. We cannot guarantee that your roommate request will be granted.

Career services

Looking for the job of your dreams? Our Career Services at AUM support the university’s mission by providing students with career guidance and assistance during their studies. Through our on-campus workshops students can gain more information on:

  • Job-search skills
  • Resume and cover letter writing
  • Interview preparation and strategies
  • Links with potential employers and internship opportunities
  • Advice on employment opportunities after graduation

Career Week Event

Every semester we organize a Career Week, where students can learn more about job search skills and careers within their field. This week-long event is filled with valuable career workshops, employer presentations, and career exploration sessions with faculty.

Location

AUM is located in Bormla, also known as Cospicua, one of Malta’s iconic Three Cities. The area is rich in culture, varied history and restaurants and cafés by the beautiful waterfront. Our campus, originally designed by William Scamp, was used during World War II as a British naval base. Heavily bombed during this period, the building was left in ruins for many years. The restoration process included efforts to keep the historic preservation of artefacts within the building.
