Students study to become a registered nurse at 1 of the following locations: Boston (with Grantham), Derby, Lincoln, Mansfield or Nottingham; there are no course fees to pay and eligible students undertaking the Diploma receive a non-means tested bursary from the NHS; this is offered on a pro-rata basis for the 4.5-year extended programme; the BSc (Hons) pathway gives students the opportunity to qualify as a Registered Nurse with a nursing degree; all students enrolling on the Diploma have the opportunity to undertake the degree pathway while studying for their nursing qualification; preparation for the degree pathway begins in year 2, however, both diploma and degree students continue to study together and the practice component remains the same; students wishing to undertake the degree pathway transfer onto the programme in year 3 and receive support from the BSc advisors located in each centre; there are a small number of places on the extended option for students with family commitments who wish to complete the Diploma over 4.5 years, taking extended leave to coincide with school holidays.
