Northampton, University of, BA (Hons), Journalism

 United Kingdom
Stage 1: Students take part in a mix of practical and academic activities including news writing and reporting projects across the print and broadcast media; they also write essays, carry out investigative projects and make group presentations to help develop their understanding of the environment in which journalism operates. Stage 2: Students put the skills acquired at stage 1 into practice producing ongoing assignments for the student magazine and 2 websites; the atmosphere is very much that of a working newsroom environment with students dispatched to carry out interviews and live reports both on and off campus; in addition, students undertake an intensive study of the law and government which involve them in essays, reports and group presentations. Stage 3: Students take part in placements; they also get an opportunity to bring their writing and reporting skills up to professional standards and meet specialist professional writers; they are able to showcase their talents and creativity in a final project that might involve producing a magazine, a radio programme or a video documentary.
