Accounting Stage 1: During the 1st stage, students are introduced to the important conceptual issues which underpin accounting and start to learn some of the techniques and skills required; students are concerned with recording, reporting and interpreting basic financial and cost accounting information. Stage 2: This stage concentrates heavily on corporate reporting, management accounting and the role of the accountant in organisational decision-making. Stage 3: In the final stage, students study the more strategic and specialist areas of accounting and finance including financial services, banking, investment management and insurance. Educational studies Stage 1: These modules introduce a variety of approaches, perspectives and theoretical resources for understanding and explaining aspects of education. Stage 2: These modules take students into more detailed and developed areas, considering in depth some of the current issues and debates in education, education beyond the British Isles, the philosophical and theoretical bases for teaching and learning and the psychology of education. Stage 3: These modules provide students with opportunities for specialised and intensive study on areas and aspects of education they are interested in; all major and joint students prepare, by supervised research, a dissertation that permits them to investigate an area of personal/career interest.
