Entry requirements

Applicants need a German university entrance qualification or a foreign school-leaving certificate corresponding to the German Abitur (university entrance qualification). A university degree (bachelor) in a philological subject, in which linguistics was included. You will need to have an adequate knowledge of German. For most German-taught programmes, applicants need to provide evidence of German language skills at DSH-2-level. Please note that for some programmes, a lower (DSH-1) or higher (DSH-3) German language level is required. Satisfactory proficiency in English as a language of science and discourse has to be demonstrated before taking up your studies. The required skills correspond to the general level B1 for spoken language and C2 for reading comprehension.
