Biological chemistry (or chemical biology), as well as its cognate subjects biophysical chemistry and molecular biophysics, studies the fundamental chemical principles that govern biological systems and is by definition a multi- or inter-disciplinary subject, bringing together skills and interests from both biology and chemistry; biological topics include biocatalysis; biomimetric chemistry; bioprocessing; chemical biology; cheminformatics; medicinal chemistry; post-genomic science; and structural biology.
