Level 1: The first year of study has been constructed to ensure that students have the opportunity to develop an understanding of the discipline, through practical design assignments and supporting design lectures; core subjects for the year include: design strategies; visual conversations; structured curiosity; trend forecasting. Level 2: The second year is aimed at continuing the design development practice, and also introduces essential supporting elements associated with the business of design; subjects covered include: target mapping; sensory emotions; cultural awareness; product simulations; professional identity. Level 3: In the third year there is the option of a placement year, enabling students to further experience different cultures and engage in live design assignments; the focus of the final year of the programme is to prepare for entry into design related employment; core subjects for the year include: futures; brands; minor & major project; dissertation.
