This course is an opportunity to top-up existing Foundation degree qualifications in early years or early childhood studies to a full Honours degree; this course is suitable for practitioners who are: working with children in a range of early years and pre-school settings; wanting to enhance career prospects by acquiring a gateway to professional qualifications, such as Early Years Professional Status (EYPS) or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS); ready to study for a degree related to professional practice; the course enables early years practitioners to build upon and extend practices and competences acquired through the completion of an early childhood or early years Foundation degree or comparable diplomas; the programme of study utilises a reflective practitioner approach and focuses on assisting course members in the continuing evaluation and development of their professional practice; it examines the current context of early childhood experiences in relation to contemporary educational, social and political practices, such as Every Child Matters, the Children’s Workforce and the common core of skills and knowledge; the programme typically has: a strong research application with a focus on the observation, assessment and development of younger children; work-based learning opportunities; course assessments linked to professional practice; this course is taught at the Hull campus.
