The aim of this programme of research is to contribute to knowledge and practice in the field of occupational health; in all cases, entry is subject to satisfactory arrangements for providing resources to support thier research; main research interests include: occupational health in developing countries, metal toxicology, occupational health in the healthcare industry, and occupational health education; group is developing links with the department of health (NHS Plus), and its specialist registrars and NHS research associate are involved in research projects on musculo-skeletal problems, evidence for pre-employment screening, and occupational infections; other areas of current research include: occupational exposures in working women and perinatal mortality, systems of compensation for workplace injury and ill-health, and risk assessment in health and safety; there are research links several UK and European institutes.

Location

The University of Kent has three campuses in the UK, situated in Canterbury, Medway, and Tonbridge. It also has sites in Europe, at Paris, Brussels and Athens.

The main campus- Canterbury campus is built on 300 acres of parkland and is less than 25 minutes’ walk from the historic cathedral city of Canterbury. Canterbury is a vibrant city with a warm and friendly atmosphere, within easy reach of London, France and Belgium. There is a free coach service between Medway and Canterbury campuses.
