Year 1: Students study: aspects of tourism; tourism marketing; tourism data analysis in practice; tourism geography; impacts and ethics of tourism; and understanding and interpreting financial data; students also choose from options in: managing hospitality services, international business and culture, or a language. Year 2: Tourist market; behaviour and motivations; aspects of law for tourism; managing human resources; economics of tourism; tourism industry and enterprise; and employability and entrepreneurship; students also choose from options in: socio-cultural impacts of tourism; tourism geography field research; European tourism policy and development; global change and development or a language. Year 3: Optional work placement or study abroad year: highly recommended, as it provides students with an excellent opportunity to develop work-based skills, gain experience and confidence and obtain a real insight into the industry; students may also choose to study abroad during the course at one of our partner universities in Europe, North America, the Far East or Australia. Final year: Business strategy, and managing change and challenges in tourism; students also choose from options in: tourism destination planning; tourism management of natural and cultural heritage sites; coastal resort development; festivals and tourism; tourism and the environment; countryside recreation management; global marketing ethics and culture; sustainable marketing; a dissertation on language.
