The education studies programme is designed to encourage and support deep learning about the world of education; the way knowledge is transmitted, learnt and applied has been and is changing with the increase of new technologies and changing perceptions about what constitutes knowledge; this course examines and analyses the theories, values, policies and practices which underpin approaches to education for all, both in the United Kingdom and beyond; as the currency of human exchange, language is central to existence, and constantly adapting in a rapidly changing world; focusing on the rich tapestry of the English language, this course celebrates its diversity, from past to present, and begins with a study of the nature and origins of language; historical manuscripts, printed texts, literature, dialect recordings and modern electronic collections may all come under the microscope as the student investigates the social, historic and psychological aspects of English; the student is encouraged to use their own experiences of language as a source of inspiration and may pursue independent projects and field work; the course focuses on the future of languages and its literary context together with media and advertising speak and howthe very nature of language is evolving.
