This course focuses upon the software and hardware technologies that drive today’s modern multimedia world; it gives students the skills to succeed in multimedia development and web industries; students develop an understanding of the technology behind multimedia delivery systems, web programming and content-rich interactive web development, embracing audio and video to include 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional animations; students can explore different aspects of technology in the multimedia world and how they impact upon each other; the internet plays a crucial role in this industry, so students gain an understanding of the web, along with essential technology and business skills.Year 1: Students are introduced to a wide range of skills, including interactive multimedia technology applications, internet development, animation and computer graphics and the essential practical electronics skills for media systems; students can develop video and audio skills for web and stand-alone use, such as podcasts and DVD.Year 2: students develop practical and critical skills in computing and multimedia, including multimedia authoring and development, with a focus on interactive content and data management; they also prepare for professional aspects of work in a multimedia environment.Year 3: students can specialise in their chosen area and work as part of a team for a group project; both of these let students explore their own interests and produce finished products; core and optional modules include: internet programming; interactive multimedia and hypermedia; virtual reality multimedia; computer-based learning.
