Year 1: A general 1st year of studies provides a solid grounding in the creative, theoretical and practical elements of graphic communication; this includes idea generation, visualisation and the opportunity to develop creative ideas in traditional media and using industry-standard software; modules include: visual stories; graphic communication project 1; computer graphic applications; design in context. Year 2: in this year students can focus on areas of general graphic design, illustration and interactive/screen-based design, supported by studies in design theory; it also introduces students to aspects of professional development and practice to ensure they have the skills they need for the workplace; modules include: graphic communication project 2; design for new media; professional design practice. Year 3: students who successfully complete years 1 and 2 are eligible to apply for a placement year in industry. Final year: this year includes opportunities for live and external assignments, culminating in a major project and annual design show.
