This is a major/minor combination which allows students to study 2 subjects; the major subject (music) makes up 75% of the course, and the minor subject (fine art digital) makes up 25% of the course; the music programme focuses on music as an applied art, 1 that is engaged with the musical world in all its diversity and excitement, from improvisation, composition and professional performance to music therapy and community music, as well as the traditional music analysis and critical theory; there are regular professional concerts and masterclasses on campus, free to students, as well as the chance to experience similar events at major United Kingdom conservatoires; fine art digital encompasses a range of practical activities and approaches to the production of fine art outputs including: photography; video; sound; net.art; Flash animation; installation and projection; the minor is designed as a sequential series of practical modules using industry-standard hardware and software as the tools to create digital artworks for digital photo print, net.art and the internet, video and screen-based installation; it is intended for students who wish to be literate in the practical uses, contexts and application of a range of visual digital design tools and to apply them both to their main study and to complement their skills for potential employment.
