Students are encouraged to develop as caring and competent practitioners who can adopt an enquiring, analytical and creative approach to their work; they develop the ability to critically appraise research literature and link this to clinical practice, working in a multidisciplinary, multi-agency and inter-professional team as part of a dynamic health and social care system; the common foundation year has 5 modules with an associated period of clinical practice; as nursing is a largely vocational subject which is underpinned by other disciplines, modules include behavioural, biological and social sciences; students have the option to take an international exchange during the branch programme; clinical placements allow students to apply the knowledge they have acquired in the preceding modules to different client groups.
