This degree integrates business and management subjects with the specialist knowledge required to work in the retail industry; students benefit from a high level of industry contact, in particular with links to the Institute of Customer Service and the British Retail Consortium, as well as the guest lecture programme which ensures that students are introduced to pertinent retail and management issues. Year 1: This year focuses on operational issues within retail whilst introducing the principles of management. Year 2: this year focuses on specialist retail subjects such as visual merchandising and logistics, with management skills, such as human resources, being developed through a variety of case studies. Year 3: The final year sees students being encouraged to take a strategic approach to management along with research into contemporary retail trends; a wide range of options is offered in the final year enabling students to focus on their particular area of interest.
