Year 1: History and theory of art and design, mid-18th to late 19th-Centuries; critical readings; museum spaces (projects); options including: the design, manufacture and consumption of clothes for women in Britain, 1740-1870; art, architecture, design and decoration in the British country house; cities of modernism: London, Paris and New York. Year 2: history and theory of art and design, late 19th-Century to present; constructing historical research; options including: museum histories; 'see what I'm saying?' the application of visual research, digital media and language to objects in museum collections; behind the scenes: museum, gallery, archive experience. Year 3: material cultures: in and out of context; case studies in museum and heritage studies; special subjects including: dress collections, collectors and interpretation; archaeology and interpretation; visions and achievements: British crafts since the 1950s; public art; dissertation; research seminars; exhibition.
