The course aims to develop intellectual and practical understanding of graphic design; projects are designed to challenge students, testing and developing their visual communication skills; critiques and studio presentations further develop verbal communication skills; emphasis throughout the course is placed on establishing excellent critical judgement and on building strong working methods; areas covered include: studio-based visual communication project briefs; computing for print; computing for web; typography and letterpress; photography; book arts; professional practice programme; cultural and critical studies; extension studies.
