Candidates must undertake 3 inter-related research/developmental activities in their place of work over a period of 3 years; outcomes from these efforts (at least 3 papers) must be published or publishable (subject to prior arrangements) in internationally recognised and referred publications; the only exception to this rule is when a patent is generated in which case 2 publications plus the patent would be accepted; full international patents only would qualify; these publications form part of the portfolio/thesis.
