The theoretical component of the programme includes modules on nursing, clinical skills, personal and professional development, research, physiology, law, counselling, and applied health psychology; this part of the programme is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge that they need in order to work with people, to understand their needs and to help meet these; students put all of this into practice during their time on clinical placement when they are expected to work alongside other healthcare professionals in a range of settings, including hospitals, nursing homes and community facilities; students gain experience of working with individuals and with their families and carers.
