Students are required to take four taught courses, one of which will be assessed by a 15,000 word dissertation. The dissertation must be linked to one of the law courses and counts as assessment of that law course.


Choices of the four taught courses can be the following:

  • Three courses must be chosen from the LLM course list (50 full and half unit courses) or may be an approved language
  • Another option: LLM course list below, an approved language, or an appropriate SOAS non-law option (with the approval of the LLM convenor)
  • There is also an optional pre-sessional course.

Location

SOAS is based in the heart of London, and the capital's rich cultural and social life is literally on its doorstep. It has excellent travel connections with bus, underground and train within easy access. The Bloomsbury campus is an intellectual centre well known to tourists and academics while Vernon Square is close to many of Islington's boutiques and restaurants.
