The course aims to understand disease processes by developing relevant models to investigate microbial pathogenesis and anti-microbial host responses at the molecular level; this includes the use of a wide range of molecular, cellular and systems biology, biochemistry, structural biology and bioinformatics approaches; a specific feature of research is the close, collaborative interaction between clinical academics and scientists to develop programmes of research aimed to improve the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases.
