The core units cover: Computer architecture; computer operating systems; information technology: applications software; computing: planning and working within a project team; and the graded unit (the examination); the remainder of the units cover: software development; computer hardware; supporting users and trouble-shooting a desktop operating system; and supporting users and trouble-shooting desktop applications; candidates are required to pass the 2 associated Microsoft core exams to achieve the units and the Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician Certificate (MCDST) and become a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP).
