Stage 1: Modules introduce the range and variety of geographical study, and include: an introduction to geographical analysis; study skills; geographical imaginations; environmental issues; introduction to earth science and interconnected world. Stage 2: 1/3 of the modules are compulsory, covering advanced study skills and either key methods for human geography or field and laboratory techniques in physical geography; the remaining modules are chosen from a wide range of options including: aquatic pollution; land, water and development; Quaternary environments; political geography; globalisation, economy and culture and social exclusion and spatial justice; residential and non-residential field courses are also offered in economic and social change, human geography and physical geography. Stage 3: A dissertation represents 1/3 of the study, with remaining modules selected from a range of options that includes: Ice Age Earth; Quaternary palaeoclimatology; river management; geoarchaeology; race, place and nation; local and regional development; the geography of commodities; gender divisions at work; geopolitical thought and practice and militarism: space and society; students can also take some modules from other subject areas.
