This course is suitable for those wishing to teach children from 3-7 years, and places a major focus on the school experience as it combines an interesting range of academic study with practical school-based components; this course is ideal for students who wish to prepare for a profession where innovative work with young children soon becomes part of their daily life as a teacher; the student gains experience of teaching in Key Stage 1, reception and nursery settings; the student is involved in a paired practice with another student in either the same class or year group, and day-link visits help prepare the student for the block practice at the end of the 1st year; in year 2, the student works independently in 1 class for day-link visits, and the student’s 3rd year include 9 weeks of block practice, where they have almost full responsibility of a nursery class; the course has strong and committed partnership with local schools and early years' settings, whose mentors and class teachers train with the University; the student has the opportunity for rich and varied placements in the multilingual, multicultural and multifaith schools, which are characteristic of the partnership; the student is supported by an experienced and highly qualified team of tutors which has research interests in a wide range of educational areas; in addition to the many facilities open to all students, the student also benefits from a dedicated primary centre and teaching training information and communication technology suite; in the final semester the student has the opportunity to study in another country, such as Australia, United States of America or a European country; this course is taught at the Trent Park Campus.
