Year 1: Provides a foundation in the development of visual communication skills through a programme of drawing, painting and computer graphics projects; the fashion design projects work in parallel to encourage the development of creative ideas from research and design development through to illustration and garment making. Year 2: Aims to strengthen design confidence and knowledge of the various facets of the design profession; design projects are underpinned with sound technical development in creative pattern cutting and garment construction. Year 3: There are three study pathways that progressively emerge from third year: fashion design; fashion knitwear design; and fashion design with marketing; students select their route from an informed position and build on their individual strengths and interests; industrial work placement during vacation periods is encouraged by staff. Year 4: Each student is required to prepare their own project brief and design an original fashion collection with a supporting commercial portfolio and fashion trend publication.
