The course provides a good grounding in biology and introduces the student to the primary features of forensic work of a biological nature; the introductory module concepts in forensic science provides a review of the nature and breath of biology in a forensic context; biological forensic work is primarily laboratory based and this course concentrates on the development of the key skills required for forensic work, this being covered by the modules forensic analysis and forensic toxicology; the legal framework for forensic biology is explained in law for forensic scientists; in the final year, case studies in forensic biology provides an opportunity to study in detail specific forensic cases of interest to the student.
