Edinburgh College of Art, BA (Hons), Painting
Year 1: General course intended to be one of breadth of study; includes core drawing studies; printmaking; painting; sculpture; tapestry; visual and cultural studies; 3 design subjects may be selected including 1 arts specialist subject and 1 from graphic design, illustration, film/television, photography, animation. Year 2: Drawing (including anatomy); visual and cultural studies; elective subject; painting specialisation including technical methods (study of the nature and use of materials employed in painting and workshop practice). Year 3: Drawing; visual and cultural studies; painting specialisation (studies are taken from a point of reference such as the figure, landscape and selected situations). Year 4: development of work undertaken in earlier years with greater emphasis on independent study and research.
